Earlier this year, a DJ WinterMute and I realised that Cambridge is lacking a decent industrial/electro/noise night and decided to do something about it. There is The Calling where sometimes some Industrial and Electro are played but the music tends to be more mainstream. Die Fabrik is in no way intended to compete with The Calling, on the contrary, it is meant to complement it.
The Kambar is a well-known alternative club venue in Cambridge and therefore ideal for this venture.
Due to the rather specialised genres being played, Die Fabrik will not be run regularly but maybe every three months or so, depending on demand and success. This will ensure it will remain fresh and any clashes with other goth events in Cambridge will be kept to a minimum.
The first night on the 5th of May was a
small success and run by DJ WinterMute and myself, together with
guest DJs Grim (The Calling),
SoGoth and Angelus (both Church
of Madness, Reading). Everybody
who was there enjoyed themselves and promised to be back.
It's been in the works for a while, complicated by the fact that
DJ WinterMute moved back the US, but now Die Fabrik
will finally be back on the 25th of November 2004:
